Property rights, patent law & requirements for patentability

Technical inventions are of great importance in science. Therefore, legal protection against unauthorized use by third parties in the form of a patent (national or international) is important. As an introduction, the web seminar gives a brief general overview of the most important intellectual property rights and compares them next to each other. The content-related focus is then on the patent and the patenting process. The law regulates the conditions under which inventions can be registered for patent.

The web seminar informs the participants about these basic requirements for patentability and about the limits of patent protection. In addition, the basics of the patent application process and the structure of a patent are taught.

The seminar will take place online on October 7th, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in English.

The workshop is free for all SFB1399 associated members of the University of Cologne and University of Bonn.
